The Youth Ministry Program
The middle school and high school youth groups run the gamut from incoming 6th graders to graduating high school seniors. The middle school group is comprised of 6th grader through 8th grade youth. For the 6th and 7th grade middle school youth, there is the Sunday 9:30 am gathering with Dwight and Diane down in the youth room. It’s great fun with power tools, hot glue and lots of spinny things!
The Confirmation Class is offered for 8th grade youth along with the occasional 9th grader. The class is a great opportunity to learn more about one’s faith, Jesus and the church as well as a spring board into the high school youth group. The high school youth group draws from 9th graders to 12th grade youth. Along with the youth director, a number of incredibly gifted adults volunteer their time to serve as youth advisors who attends the youth group meetings, activities and retreats.
In an effort to develop good leadership skills, youth are selected to serve on the middle school and high school youth advisory councils with the youth director. Advisors also participate in the monthly youth advisory council meetings. The youth advisory council seeks to provide input and together with the adults plan upcoming youth meetings and various activities.
Youth ministry is great fun!! Between tie-dyeing t-shirts, playing sardines in the supposedly haunted basement of the CUC or discussing faith, it’s a fabulous opportunity to make new friends, deepen those friendships with those you already know and grow in your faith! Join us on Sunday night.
Generally, the youth schedule is
Sunday, 9:30 am

High School Youth Group
Last year, we had a very successful Youth in the Yitchen cooking program where youth made meals for those people in need within our congregation as well as our the monthly service project where we made lunches for the homeless men and women in downtown Denver and then delivered the meals. These two important programs will soon start back up!
For Parents and Significant Parenting Adults
Last year, we had a parenting class which read and discussed the book, “WHY Do They Act That Way?: A Survival Guide to the Adolescent Brain for You and Your Teen” by Dr. David Walsh. All the feedback was quite positive so if there is an interest, we will be having another parenting of adolescents class.
