Our hand puppet troupe provides an opportunity for kids roughly 6 to 10 (elementary school) to participate in a creative drama program and present to an appreciative audience a couple times a year.
Our hand puppet team typically consists of six to eight kids. The only requirements are that they be able to read reasonably well, they have the strength to hold up the puppet, they can meet often during the 11 AM service, and they can attend the performance
Mr. Eagle and Mr. Fox contemplate the strange ways of rabbits.
Our puppet plays investigate the wacky doings of a collection of woodland creatures – animals – as they go about their remarkably sophisticated lives. These animals have to go to school and clean their rooms, but they also go on exotic vacations and save the world from time to time. The kids are involved in developing the scripts. A typical play has around six acts and takes around 20 minutes to put on, and there will be a dance scene with recorded music.
In the fall 2009 season we presented A Concrete Christmas, the story of how the woodland creatures keep the evil mall developer from destroying their habitat. We are taking December off, then we will meet again in January to design our next presentation.
