Finance Committee
The Finance Committee oversees the financial aspects of the church. In particular, the Finance Committee:
- Prepares the annual budget for the church council,
- Monitors spending and revenue during the year, and recommends budget corrections, when needed, to the church council,
- Considers and acts upon recommendations for out-of-budget spending when funds are available,
- Supports other church departments and functions in financial planning for major undertakings
Standing members of the Committee are the President-Elect of the Council, the Treasurer, the Financial Secretary, the Stewardship Committee Chair and the Business Manager (a non-voting member). Other members are invited to join the committee at the recommendation of the standing committee members.
Mission Committee
Mission and Outreach activities are a significant part of Columbine United Church. The Mission Committee, operating under the guidance of the Church Council, has the responsibility for selecting, funding, and providing liaison with various local and world-wide groups and bringing the congregation into contact with their needs and volunteer opportunities. The Committee relies on the core values of the church for guidance in selecting those groups and activities which will be supported both on a one-time and continuing basis.
Worship Committee
The duties of the Worship Committee include the organizing of:
- Communion
- Schedules for ushers, acolytes and Advent candle lighters
- Replacement of paraments for church seasons
- Baptisms
- Candles and ushers for special candlelight services
- Evaluating the quantity and quality of the church’s worship services
- Sanctuary décor
Children, Youth & Families (CYF) Committee
The CYF Committee works closely with CUC’s Associate Pastor of CYF and the Director of Youth Ministries to build a solid Christian Education program for CUC. The committee:
- Annually reviews curriculum and programming regarding content and effectiveness
- Plans and executes an annual Vacation Bible School for children
- Assists with the planning of the Children’s Christmas Eve worship service
- Plans and executes several seasonal annual social events for the church community
Congregational Care & Nurture Committee
The Care & Nurture Committee oversees 16 sub-committees, including CUC Meals, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Cancer Support Group, Church Events, Care-givers Support, CODA, Alcoholics Anonymous, MOM’s, Funerals and Memorials, Attendance, Prayer Chain, Chronologically Gifted, New Members, Care Groups, Visiting Minister, Small Groups, Health Cabinet, and Stephen’s Ministers.
Stewardship Committee
Stewardship is a spiritual reality that is just as much a part of our spiritual lives as prayer. It also brings to life CUC’s motto, “Where Faith and Life Meet.” The Stewardship Committee works on projects to increase gifts of time, talent, and treasure. It organizes the annual fall fund drive and nurtures year-round stewardship awareness within the CUC community.
