Kids Earn Disciple Dollars

Disciple Dollars is a new initiative of Children’s Ministry.  All children in the Sunday and Monday Christian Education Programs, CREW and Godly Play are eligible to participate.  The Dollars themselves are sweet looking because they were designed by our own 4th & 5th graders.  So how does it work?  Kids earn Disciple Dollars (DD) by coming to class, either CREW or Godly Play.  One DD, $1.00, for attending each class like a budding disciple. Attend all classes in a month and earn an extra $5.00.  During class, kids can practice the behavior of growing disciples by their participation, helpfulness and other positive interaction.  DD’s are given by the teachers/storytellers and helpers/doorkeepers for CREW with a comment about what the child did to earn them.  Each child has an envelope in the attendance binder where their DD’s are deposited for safekeeping.  Every few months, there are Redemption Days when the kids can redeem their DD’s for a variety of age appropriate fun stuff.  The PreK-K class redeems there DD’s every week.  It’s proving to be a fun and meaningful way to re-enforce the everyday good behavior of good disciples.   2010 Redemption Days: January 31, February 8, May 30, June 14, August 29, September 13, October 31 and November 8.

Q: How Do You Make Angels Better?

A: You Give Them A Brand New Pager System

Yup that’s right angels use pagers.  Thanks to Dwight and a special gift to CUC’s nursery, Angel Bay, we have purchased and installed a brand new pager system.  We trained on it at our January nursery meeting.  The new system has several angelic features.  It is rechargeable.  The vibration is clearly evident.  And lastly, there are plenty of pagers for everyone.  In recent months, we have been squeaking by with not enough pagers for everyone.  This solves that problem.  The new pager system is one more way Children’s Ministry is working to make Angel Bay Nursery a better place for everyone.  Special thanks to the “Angel” who donated the money for this important improvement!

Children This Sunday

Children join their families in the sanctuary for Time with Children and Communion. It’s World Communion Sunday and Charlie Simmons will be reporting on his work in Guatemala with Common Hope. It should be fun and inspiring!

Childcare is provided in the nursery downstairs for infants through three year olds.
