On September 21, 2010, Doug McKinney,  Director of Love, Inc., will hold a Volunteer Information and Orientation night on Tuesday evening, September 21, at 7:00 p.m., here at CUC.

Do You Want to Become a Member of Columbine United Church? 

Sign up at the Information Booth for our New Member Classes.  Dates have been changed to September 19, 26, and October 3.  We’ll meet in the Fireside Chapel from 10:30 to 12:30 each Sunday, then officially join in a ceremony on October 10th.  You will have a chance to personally meet our Senior Pastor and several lay leaders as we  explore this church, its policy, structure, and theology, and how we relate ecumenically to the three denominations.  All are welcome.  Reservations are not required, but requested, and we provide child care.  We will have snacks and beverages, too.  Please let us know if you plan to attend.  If you have  questions, please call the church office.

Children’s Choir is starting!

Children’s Choir is starting on September 15th!  If your child loves to sing (even if they’re not on key!), Children’s Choir is for them.  We meet every Wednesday at 4:15 to 5:00 p.m.  Kids 5 to 12 years of age are welcome.  We sing fun songs, have snacks and share our lives in a loving, open environment.  Questions? Awesome opportunity.  For those who cannot attend the World Premier Concert on Monday, September 13th, come to our final rehearsal on August 30th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.  We are having openrehearsal with all the players.  Come, sit back,enjoy what should be a very interesting and exciting evening of rehearsal.

Brown Bag Bible will start up again on September 22nd.  The book we have chosen is Becoming a Woman of Prayer by

El Porvenir Meeting will be held on

September 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the Fireside Chapel.  We are reorganizing our water committee for this coming year and encourage anyone else who may be interested in joining our committee.  We may break up into two groups: Water Committee and the Nicaragua Work Trip, January, 2011.  We do have a few spaces available for this trip.  Ten people have signed up so far.  Come and help CUC with future work for El Porvenir.  Questions?  Contact Bretha Mahe.

CGs Picnic-in-the-Park

Save the date. Columbine’s Chronologically Gifted (CGs) will have a picnic lunch at Clement Park on August 31st.  The picnic spread includes fried chicken, potato salad, deviled eggs, brownies and watermelon.  Festivities begin at 11:30 a.m.  RSVP to your caller.

Children’s Ministry Needs You

Meals for Homeless Families and More 

 Thanks to those of you who assisted with Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) last week.  We had some new folks as well as some regulars.  Our next week is November 7, 2010.  The 2011 calendar is also out—we have the weeks of 1/30, 5/1, 7/17, and 10/9.  Mark them on your calendar!!  We’d love to have your help!!!!

School Supply Drive

 Each summer the Mission Committee undertakes a school supply drive to benefit the underprivileged youth in our community.  We can help lighten their burden by donating school supplies to the community agencies that distribute directly to those in need.  Place your donations in the marked bins in front of the Mission House.

Nursery Needs a Bench 

Our nursery needs a comfy, cozy bench, loveseat size.  Wicker or wood.  In good condition, but seeking a new location where it will be greatly appreciated.  Or if you would like to fund the purchase of same, please talk with Carol@columbinechurch.org or (303) 798-1845, ext. 22.
