Children’s Ministries Events

Children’s Ministries Events

March 14 at 9:30 AM

PreK-K (Courtyard Room)
Today in Godly Play the children will continue their exploring of the stories of Jesus’ life that lead to Easter.  We will be looking at part 2 of “The Faces of Easter.”  This week’s presentation focuses on the face of Christ as the  One who was lost and found.

K-1: CREW (Frog Room)
2/3:  CREW (Covenant Room)
4/5:  CREW (Temple Room)

The CREW lesson for March is “Holy Week: Gospel Comparisons.”   Using the rotation workshop model, CREW offers children in kindergarten through 5th grade age appropriate discussion, activities and crafts. This month kids will be exploring the Easter story, from the triumphant entry into Jerusalem to the Last Supper to the crucifixion and finally the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We find the events of Holy Week attested to in each of  the four Gospels.  Each writer recalled and recorded the events from his perspective and for his specific audience.

Childcare is provided in our Angel Bay Nursery, downstairs, form 9:00 am – 12:30.  Infants through 7-year-olds are welcome.  Please clearly  print your first and last name when you sign in  your child and note any allergies or other concerns.

COMING SOON
March 26 & 27: A Walking Prayer: Walk the Labyrinth in Biel Hall

June 14-18:  High Seas Expedition: CUC 2010 VBS.

Ways to Make a Difference

Ways to Make a Difference

Agua for Nicaragua work/cultural trip.  Think you might be interested in joining the Agua for Nicaragua team in a visit to Nicaragua and help with the project at the village El Tanque?  We are considering a January/February time frame in 2011, as that is the best weather down there.  Please sign up at the Mission House and we will contact you with more details.  We are looking for 10-15 persons in the group. Decisions about timing will be made within the next month.

IHN Rotation Update. We are  doing really well with meal coverage – may just have a couple of holes to fill  in.  We do need people to stay overnight and some folks to  help with Stay At Home Saturday.  Check at the Mission  House between services or call Linda Chatfield at 303-989-5622 or email at langelotti@aol.com.

Disney Ticket Opportunity with IHN! IHN is registered on the Disney “Give a Day/Get a  Day” portal.  This allows people who want to earn a free ticket to a Disney  park to volunteer with  us and be credited for that  opportunity.  Visit the Disney web site (http://www.disneyparks.com/ ) and click on “Give a  Day-Get a Disney Day”. You will need to carefully read the material.  If  you want to  participate with IHN, please indicate your congregation  (CUC).  The opportunities are tailored to our volunteers – meal host,  overnight host, etc.  Tickets may be limited so sign up early!

Malawi Initiative. For the past two years our congregation has supported Dr. Janell Routh in Malawi with toothbrushes and funds for mosquito nets.Dr Routh will be leaving Malawi in May 2010 for a new assignment with Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA. We will stop collecting tooth-brushes and providing funds. It has been a very successful operation. Thanks to all for your support and contributions. You have made a difference.

Towels For Network Coffeehouse. Many people are not aware that Network Coffeehouse has a shower for our patrons’ use.  Currently we are running low on towels and hope that some of you are looking for an excuse to buy new towels for your home.  We need standard size towels like in motels and not the larger size.  They can be any color and even a little worn.  Also we can always use toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen trash bags, as well as, the travel soaps and shampoos.  Thank you for your generosity.  Wally Bensman 303-989-1737

In the Light for March 15

In the Light for March 15

We hear Christians say over and over that Jesus came to die for our sins. Is that your truth? The Rev Richard Ward will tell the story of Jesus at Gethsemane (Mark 14: 32 – 42) and help us reflect on this important question.

Gather for soup dinner in Biel Hall at 5:45 PM on Monday March 15, then worship in the Chapel at 6:30 PM

Bird and Breakfast Walk April 17

Bird and Breakfast Walk April 17

Saturday, April 17, 2010 – Breakfast and Bird Walk.  We’ll meet at Café de France at Aspen Grove for breakfast first–the restaurant has a large meeting room. After breakfast at about 9:30 am  we plan to consolidate vehicles and carpool to Chatfield State Park.  We’ll drive to the Heron Rookery Overlook parking lot (restrooms available) and walk (paved trail) toward the new colony Heron Rookery Viewing Area.  Along the way we should see numerous species of ducks, shorebirds, and wading birds.  The males will be in full breeding plumage, really “strutting their stuff” to attract the females.  You won’t want to miss this!
